What is Children's Ministry

The Children’s Ministry at Christ Church seeks to provide a supportive environment and framework for families to worship together, fellowship with one another, and grow in their knowledge of and relationship with Jesus Christ. Our primary goal is to reach children of all ages with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to see children accept Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior and grow spiritually in their walk with Him. We strive to partner with parents to disciple their children in the Christian faith during these very formative years and help them establish a strong spiritual foundation for their families.

More specifically, the Children’s Ministry is committed to:

  • Providing a safe, loving, welcoming environment for babies, toddlers and elementary-age children at all church events
  • Teaching children’s classes that are God-centered, Bible-based, child-friendly and age-appropriate, and helping children learn to apply biblical truths to everyday life
  • Encouraging and providing opportunities for families to become actively engaged together in worship, service, fellowship and evangelism

Organization and Sundays

Currently, the Children’s Ministry has the following divisions:

Nursery
Preschool/Kindergarten
Elementary

The Christ Church nursery (for babies, toddlers and two-year-olds) is available every Sunday morning beginning at 9:15 AM until 12:30 PM.

For children of preschool and elementary ages, we offer structured classes from 9:30 AM to 10:20 AM on Sunday mornings; all classes are taught by dedicated volunteers from within the church. The Nursery and Children’s classes are located along the hallway to the right as you enter the front doors of the Atlanta International School.

Believing that children learn best from example, we encourage children to participate in the worship service with their parents. During the 10:30 AM service, on-site supervision is provided by regular caregivers for children three years old and older who do not attend the service.

Year-Round Activities

The Children’s Ministry sponsors and/or organizes special events for families throughout the year. Some of these activities include:

  • Annual Parent Potluck
  • Christmas Pageant during Christ Church’s Christmas Eve service
  • Missions outreach opportunities, including participation in Operation Christmas Child (sponsored by Samaritan’s Purse), service days at local food banks, making sandwiches for the homeless, and collecting items for persecuted and needy Christians in other parts of the world

But the truth of Luther’s affirmation is eternal. It is eternal because God’s Word is eternal. The grass withers, the flower fades. But the word of our God stands forever. (Isaiah 40:8)
