Christ Church defines family life ministry as any activity which supports, strengthens and trains
the family unit. It includes activities which develop new family relationships in the Christ
Church community and the greater community of faith as well as activities which increase our
capacity to model Jesus in every relationship. Our vision is to excel in helping people “Know
Christ, Grow in Christ and Proclaim Jesus Christ” to the next generation.
The Christ Church family includes people of every age and from varying family situations.
We have senior adults, empty nesters, single adults, two-parent and single-parent families,
blended families, and youth and children from newborn to college-age. Our goal is to minister
to every individual with the highest quality of teaching in biblical truth, responsive pastoral
care and focused discipleship for all ages.
What does Family Life Ministry look like? It is weekday Bible studies for women, evening home
groups and the Alpha course. It is Tuesday
morning prayer at a member’s home and Kairos gatherings for teenagers. It is informal
dinners for college students and 20-somethings to hang out and discuss God’s word. It is dynamic
Adult Sunday School classes, quarterly socials, quarterly
service projects and spontaneous gatherings after church services. It is relaxed get-togethers for
30-somethings and young marrieds. It is our “Meals on Wheels” ministry to those just coming home
from the hospital, those with new babies and those experiencing loss.
Family Life Ministry is church-wide social events as well as volunteering at the local food bank,
participating in a Habitat for Humanity build, and packing shoeboxes together for Operation
Christmas Child. We provide opportunities for adults and youth and children to get involved in
community service projects for the entire family, family-oriented missions trips and discipleship trips.
Family Life includes our growing ministry of Pastoral Care. We provide premarital counseling,
divorce care, grief care and financial counseling. We also help those who are seeking mentors
and one-on-one discipleship to be paired up with a carefully selected member of the church who is
perhaps further along in their journey with Jesus Christ and is eager to help others come along.
Additionally, our Pastoral Care team provides confidential intercessory prayer support as well as
Our Sunday morning classes for children and adults also come under Family Life Ministry. We are
privileged to be in ministry with Dr. Ken Boa who teaches one of our Sunday morning Adult classes
and who also has a number of weekly classes that can be explored through his
Life within the family is where we give witness to the working of God in our lives. As we love one
another, we show the world what God is like. We are excited about our future as a missional church
committed to reaching the community and beyond; loving our neighbor as ourselves; making a
difference in lives beyond Sunday morning.
